Engine |
|
 |
|
The newly
developed 4.6L V8 1UR-FE engine has been
adopted. This is an “Intelligent athlete
engine” that provides high levels of
both power and environmental
performance.
In addition
to Dual VVT-i and low friction
technology, a cooled-EGR (Exhaust Gas
Recirculation) system has also been
newly adopted to achieve excellent fuel
economy, comparable to that of a 4.0L
engine.
Outstanding NV (Noise,
Vibration) performance and features such
as the new 6-speed automatic
transmission with enhanced power train
management control system offer
class-top level comfort and unsurpassed
driving pleasure |

Multi-Terrain Select |
|
 |
|
Effectiveness
Driver-selectable terrain modes modify
TRC (Traction Control) to suit the
off-road conditions, enhancing the
vehicle’s ability to negotiate even the
roughest terrain.
Once a mode suitable for
the current terrain is selected from the
4 available modes (Mud & Sand, Loose
Rock, Mogul and Rock), the system
optimally controls the accelerator and
brakes
As a vehicle designed to
excel on sand, rocks and whatever other
off-road conditions it may encounter, it
is essential that the new GX 460 offers
maximum traction |

Rear
Differential |
|
 |
|
Fulltime
4WD transfer has been adopted.
Low-viscosity transfer oil has been
adopted for improved fuel economy.
A TORSEN®*1
LSD (Limited Slip Differential) is
utilized for the center differential.
A 4WD
control switch has replaced the
conventional transfer shift lever for
simplified operation.
A transfer Hi/Lo dial and
center differential Free/Lock switch
have been adopted. Using these controls
allows the driver to select between
different modes

Crawl
Control |
|
 |
|
The Crawl
Control system automatically controls
engine outputs and hydraulic braking
pressure to maintain low speeds.
Crawl
Control makes accelerator and brake
operations unnecessary when driving over
jagged off-road terrain or on slippery
surfaces, enabling the driver to
concentrate fully on steering.
A smooth application of
control minimizes wheel spin and wheel
lock-up, contributing to outstanding
capability even on slippery surfaces

|
(Kinetic
Dynamic Suspension System) |
|
 |
|
When the
vehicle begins to roll in a turn, no
stroke occurs in the hydraulic cylinders
and the stabilizers act to effectively
suppress roll. As a result, a high level
of driving stability is secured.
The valves
inline with the accumulators in each
hydraulic line are closed

Automatic
Transmission |
|
 |
|
A 6-speed automatic
transmission has been adopted. By
optimizing the internal construction of
transmissions, a “6-Super ECT”
(Electronically Controlled
Transmission), identical in size to a
conventional 5-speed automatic
transmission is realized

Multi-terrain ABS |
|
Optimized
ABS control allows for remarkable
stopping power across a wide range of
off-road conditions, including loose
surfaces such as dirt, sand and gravel.
On loose
surfaces, this system lets the wheels
lock to a certain extent to help them
dig into the surface and provide
increased stopping power.
On paved roads, this
system prevents the wheels from locking
in the same way as a conventional ABS
system |
