LEXUS HYBRID PERFORMANCE |
| |
Your vehicle’s standard
Multi-Information Display (MID) provides a
simplified representation of the approximate flow of
energy within the Lexus Hybrid Drive (LHD) system.
The display does not show all of the components of
the system. By monitoring the flow of energy and
fuel consumption, you can adjust your driving style
and habits to optimize your vehicle’s fuel
efficiency (i.e., reduce speed when possible, avoid
heavy braking, etc.). |

by the hybrid battery. |
The vehicle is being driven
by both the engine and the hybrid battery |
The vehicle is stopped and the hybrid
battery is not being charged. |
The vehicle is coasting or slowing down,
producing regenerative braking and charging
the hybrid battery. |

Access this display by pressing the “DISP” button
located on the steering wheel. Using directional
arrows, this display tells you which components are
driving the vehicle, when regenerative braking
occurs and when the battery is being charged. |

The Consumption Monitor |
| |
 |
|
Access the
Consumption Monitor screen by pressing the “INFO”
button located on the left edge of the center
dashboard display. Then touch the “TRIP INFO” button
in the display screen.

|
| |
• The bars on the left indicate prior driving; the
bars on the right indicate current driving.
• The bars display the average fuel economy in miles
per gallon (mpg)— the higher the bars reach, the
better the fuel economy.
• The small boxes with “E” in the center represent
the amount of electricity that has been generated in
50 Wh (watt hour units). A partial E indicates less
than 50 – Each column of stacked boxes
represents a 1-minute period. – The more boxes
shown, the more regenerative energy is produced and
stored in the battery.
• The Best MPG display indicates
the best 1-minute average mpg or the current best
mpg figure, whichever is greater.
• The Average MPG indicates the
average fuel economy since the data was reset; this
figure is calculated approximately every 10 seconds.
• The cruising range display
indicates the estimated range the vehicle can be
driven.
• Pressing the “Reset” button
will reset the average fuel consumption. Pressing
the “Reset All” button will reset all of the data
except the cruising range.

The Energy monitor |
| |
 |
Access
this display by pressing the “INFO” button located
on the left of the display. The Energy Monitor
display shows changes in energy and power flow
through the system as your vehicle transitions
through various driving conditions. |

The Power Gauge |
| |
|
| |
Your vehicle’s
power gauge indicates the approximate instantaneous
power in kilowatts the hybrid system delivers or
receives. The needle will move up towards 250 kW
during acceleration for the GS 450h (200 kW for the
RX 400h) and downward into the blue area when the
hybrid system is regenerating power during coasting
and braking conditions.
Lexus hybrid vehicles are available with a Lexus
DVD-based navigation system. It features an energy
monitor and fuel consumption displays that are more
comprehensive than the displays featured by the
standard Multi-Information Display (MID).

Hybrid Battery
Status |
| |
 |
|
Using an 8-level display, this icon displays the
approximate amount of electric charge available in
the hybrid battery. The indicator levels will move
up and down and change color, depending upon driving
conditions. For example, when the battery is at a
high charge level, the bars are green; when at a
medium level, they’re blue; and at a low charge,
purple. (Note: The top green bar may not appear
except after driving down long, steep grades.) |
