Lexus Hybrid Drive makes
maximum use of the power generated by
two different power sources to deliver a
new dimension of travel experience. The
systems start quietly at a press of the
power switch. It accelerates from
start-up using driving force primarily
from the electric motor, which develops
torque the instant it begins to operate,
and the vehicle responds powerfully and
simultaneously as the accelerator pedal
is depressed. In the normal speed range,
it drivers using power primarily from
the engine, while using some of the
power to generate electricity and drive
the electric motor. Under hard
acceleration it augments the enormous
power of 5.0-litre v8 engine with
immediate assistance from the
high-output electric motor, delivering a
new dimension of acceleration
performance. Quietly and smoothly, the
