ASSISTING DRIVER INPUTS
|
|
 |
|
Lexus believes that
reducing the burden placed on the driver
by operations such as steering and
braking helps to lead to a high level of
safety.

VGRS
VARIES THE STEERING GEAR RATIO
|
|
VGRS ( Variable Gear
Ratio Steering ) varies the gear ratio
so that small steering inputs produce
easy turning at parking speed, while
selecting a slow gear ratio to provide a
stable steering feel during high-speed
driving |
|
|
BRAKE HOLD REDUCES THE
BURDEN ON THE DRIVER WHILE STOPPED |
|
ECB
maintains the braking force on each
wheel when the driver presses the “HOLD”
switch on the steering wheel pad while
the vehicle is stopped in congested
traffic or waiting for a traffic light
to change. A press of the accelerator
pedal releases the brakes, allowing the
vehicle to start smoothly. |
|
|
EPB
CAN BE ENGAGED AND DISENGAGED BY
OPERATING A SWITCH |
|
EPB
(Electric Parking Brake) can be smoothly
engaged and disengaged using a switch.
When the driver selects “AUTO”, EPB
coordinates with shift lever operation
to automatically engage and disengage as
necessary, freeing the driver from the
need to operate the parking brake. |
|
|
PRE-CRASH SAFETY SYSTEM (MILLIMETRE-WAVE
RADAR TYPE) |
|
When the system
determines that there is a likelihood of
a collision with a vehicle or other
obstacle in the road ahead, it alerts
the driver with a display and a buzzer,
and the pre-crash brake assist operates
to increase the braking force when the
driver depresses the brake pedal. If it
determines that it is difficult to avoid
a collision, the pre-crash brakes and
pre-crash seatbelts also operate to
help reduce injury due to the collision.

|
RADAR CRUISE CONTROL
|
|
 |
|
To make long trips
comfortable, radar cruise control uses
data from a millimeter-wave radar sensor
to identify, judge and follow the
vehicle ahead while maintaining an
appropriate distance between vehicles |
|
|
IPA (INTELLIGENT PARKING
ASSIST) WITH ULTRASONIC SENSORS |
|
 |
|
This system assists
vehicle steering while parallel parking
and parking in garage. It enables the
driver to park the car without operating
the steering, only requiring visually
checking the surroundings to help ensure
safety and adjusting the vehicle speed
by operation of the brake pedal. |
